17th Governing Board Meeting

About The 17th Governing Board Meeting

Based on its Enabling Instrument, SEAMEO QITEP in Language (the Centre) is required to hold a Governing Board Meeting (GBM) at least once a year. The GBM serves as the Centre’s official platform to present its performance report and to receive guidance and approval from the Governing Board (GB) Members—officials nominated by the Ministries of Education in each SEAMEO Member Country. Through the GBM, the Centre ensures that all its activities and future plans align with SEAMEO Priorities, the policies of the Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (MoPSE), and the educational needs of the Southeast Asian region and beyond.

In its 17th GBM, the Centre will present a report on the implementation and achievements of its programmes during the Fiscal Year of 2025/2026. The Centre will also propose new programmes and activities, along with the proposed budget for the next fiscal year. Working papers containing these matters will be shared with GB Members ahead of the meeting to support smooth and effective discussions. The review and recommendations from the GB Members will guide the Centre in implementing its priorities and programmes for the coming year.

The 17th GBM will be held at the Vertu Hotel Harmoni in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 9–10 September 2026. It will involve Governing Board Members and/or representatives from the Ministries of Education of SEAMEO Member Countries. This meeting is expected to strengthen collaboration and improve the quality of language education across the region.
