Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between SEAQIL and
the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University
Bangkok, Thailand, 27 August 2026 — SEAMEO QITEP in Language (SEAQIL) and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University, Thailand, have formalised cooperation to strengthen the capacity of teachers and education personnel, with a focus on language and literacy.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on Thursday, 27 August 2026, in Bangkok, Thailand, by the Director of SEAQIL and Asst. Prof. Aphiwit Liang-Itsara, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University.
The agreement provides a framework for cooperation between the two institutions in developing the capacity of teachers and education personnel in Southeast Asia and beyond. The cooperation focuses on language and literacy and covers a range of joint activities, including training programmes, workshops, seminars, and webinars.
Under the MoA, SEAQIL and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University, will also share expertise and best practices in language teaching, learning, and literacy; jointly develop and publish educational materials and resources; facilitate professional exchanges involving resource persons; and collaborate on research and studies related to language education.
The cooperation with the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University, reflects SEAQIL’s continued efforts to expand its network of partners in Southeast Asia. The partnership also provides opportunities to foster regional exchange and collaboration in language and literacy education.
The signing coincided with the SEAQIL Director’s participation in the RILCA International Conference 2026, organised by the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA), Mahidol University, on 27–28 August 2026, under the theme “Reimagining Sustainability: The ASEAN Interdisciplinary Dialogue on Local Knowledge”. The occasion also provided an opportunity for SEAQIL and the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Mahidol University, to further explore areas of cooperation and the implementation of the MoA.
