Workshop on the Design Development of Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education Programme

The workshop on the Design Development of Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education Programme was conducted from 12 to 16 September 2011 at the Ibis Arcadia Hotel, Jakarta.

The workshop is aimed to develop a set of needs analysis instruments for school principals, teachers, parents, community leaders and officials of local education offices.

Twenty (20) persons who represented formal and non formal education, teachers, education personnel and officials from Local Education offices, in two provinces; West Java and Yogyakarta, and multilingual education practitioners from SEAMEO Member Countries (Thailand and Cambodia) took part- as participants of the workshop. The resource persons of the workshop were Ms. Abigail C. Lanceta (SEAMEO Secretariat), Dr. Ethel Agnes P. Valenzuela (SEAMEO INNOTECH), Dr. Mary Sylvette T. Gunigundo (SEAMEO INNOTECH), Prof. Dr. Didi Suherdi (Indonesia University of Education), Dr. Dingding Haerudin, M.Pd. (Indonesia University of Education), Alice Eastwood, Summer Institute of Linguistics Jakarta and Dr Felicia Nuradi Utorodewo (SEAMEO QITEP in Language)

During the five day workshop, the participants worked in groups to discuss the possibilities of developing MTB MLE programme in two Provinces of Indonesia. In the end, they were able to develop drafts of instruments to be used for obtaining information from education stakeholders.
