From 27 June to 10 July 2011, SEAMEO Regional Centre for QITEP in Language conducted a training on Teaching Methodology for Arabic Language Teachers held at the Centre’s campus in Jakarta. The training was aimed to increase Arabic language teachers’ competence and quality in developing Arabic language teaching and learning at schools in Southeast Asia region.

There were 14 secondary teachers and education practitioners from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines attended the training. The resource persons came from various universities and institutions in Indonesia, namely Jakarta State University, Malang State University, Indonesian Education University, Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic State University, Centre for Development and Empowerment for Language Teachers and Education Personnel (CDELTEP), and LIPIA Jakarta.

In the two-week training, the participants had a chance to develop more their language skills, knowledge on linguistic aspects and Arabic teaching methodology as well as media for teaching the language. During the training, the participants also had a chance to visit LIPIA Jakarta to observe teaching and learning process. By the end of the training, the participants was introduced to Indonesian culture by visiting Indonesian Miniature Park (Taman Mini Indonesia Indah).
